Caution
Please do not try and touch any snake that you find, even if you think it is not dangerous!
There are several non-venomous snakes that look very similar to venomous snakes.
Disturbing a snake can aggravate it, and put yourself at a high risk of getting bitten/envenomated. Large pythons can produce a nasty wound that may also require medical treatment.
Ensure that you immediately move other animals or children away from snakes, most snakes that are left alone will move on. If you do need it moved, please contact me.
A caught snake (ie in chicken wire or netting) can become very aggressive, please dont try to remove it.
If a snake is found in the house, shut it in the room if possible and place towles under the door to prevent escape.
Snake Bite First Aid
In the event that you may get bitten by a snake it is vital that the correct first aid technique is applied: (At the current time this can be done by using the following pressure-immobilisation method)
Pressure-
Use a bandage and wrap it firmly over the complete limb or affected bite area. Then clearly mark on the bandage where the bite area is. This is so the whole bandage will not have to be removed to take a swab for the venom detection kit. The venom should now stay isolated within the bandaged area.
Immobilisation:
Use another bandage or whatever you find available to make a splint. This will restrict movement of the affected limb. If it is in an area that can not be bandaged, apply firm broad pressure to the bite site as to slow down the venom. This will slow down the movement of the venom into another region of the body. As venom relies on muscle movement to travel throughout the body I would strongly advise that the bitten area is kept still as possible.

The permit authorises only the removal of reptiles on request of the occupier of the premises, when human safety and well-being is compromised and not merely when the person is inconvienced by its presence
